Bert Allen Huffman passed from this life on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the age of 81, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Bert was born on September 26, 1943, in Keystone, Oklahoma, the son of Clarence Patton Huffman and Freta Pearl Siens(Harp). Bert attended school in Cleveland, Terlton, and Sand Springs, Oklahoma, where he graduated from high school. Following his education, Bert joined the United States Navy. He was initially stationed in San Diego, California, before transferring to Long Beach, California. Following a two-year enlistment, 2nd Class Signalman Bert Huffman was honorably discharged and returned to Sand Springs, Oklahoma. On May 13, 1965, in Sand Springs, Bert was united in marriage to the love of his life, Janna Clair Hanigan, and the couple established their home. Bert gained employment at Armco Steel, which was later Sheffield Steel and Gerdau. He worked in the rolling mill portion of the plant, retiring after 38 years.
Bert and Janna loved traveling, and soon after his retirement, they sold their home and became snowbirds. He could always be found working or tinkering on cars or someone else's project. Bert enjoyed racing and was a partner in a C/Gas dragster. He also loved fishing and hunting when the time was right.
Survivors are his wife of 59 1/2 years, Janna of the home; two children, Denise "D.D." Huffman Jones and husband Derek of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Steve Huffman of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two siblings Susan Claybourn and husband Don of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Sheril Chronister and husband Randy of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren Haley White, Ryan Huffman, Stephanie Huffman, Megan Rodelander, one great-granddaughter Scottlyn White and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Bert was preceded in death by his stepfather Luther David Siens, brother Duane Huffman, and sister-in-law Wanda Huffman.
A Life Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Chapman-Black Funeral Home, with Chaplain Roger Sheppard officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Sinnett Cemetery under the direction of Chapman-Black Funeral Home.
