Phillis Loretta (Casey) Simpkins was born in Jennings, OK on March 21, 1929 to George Washington Casey and Mamie (Armour) Casey. She went to be with the Lord on the 3rd day of January, 2013 at the age of 83 years, 9 months, and 18 days.
Phillis was raised in Jennings, graduating from Jennings High School as Valedictorian with the Class of 1947. She was married to Ernest Simpkins on June 22, 1954. Phillis spent most of her married life in Jennings where she worked at Earl Brady Oil Well Services and for the Jennings Post Office. Following the death of her husband in 2005, Phillis moved to Perkins, OK to live closer to her daughter.
Phillis had been a longtime member of the Jennings First Baptist Church and had recently been attending the First Baptist Church in Perkins.
Survivors include her three children, Jeanie Brandon and her husband Kenneth of Carney, OK, Bradley Wayne Holder and his wife Margaret of Richardson, TX, and Erna Wray Patton and her husband Jack of Oilton, OK; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband Ernest, Phillis was preceded in death by her parents; one step-son, Michael and two brothers.
Phillis loved music and played the piano at church from a very young age. She leaves a legacy of being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Oilton, OK and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 7, 2013 in the Jennings First Baptist Church, Jennings, OK with Pastor Mark Compton officiating. Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery.
