Kenneth Ray Swanson, Sr. of Sand Springs, OK passed away at the age of 77 on July 15, 2022 at Arbor Village Nursing & Rehabilitation in Sapulpa, OK.
Kenneth was born to Carl Swanson and Bessie Skinner Swanson on April 13, 1945 in Maramec, OK. He married Iva Garner April 10, 1965, and they had two sons, Ken, Jr. and Eric. After Iva’s passing he married Ginny Murphy on September 1, 2000.
He is survived by his wife Ginny Murphy Swanson of the home; sons Ken, Jr. (Charity) and Eric; stepson Michael Murphy (Kim); grandchildren Josh (Jordan) and Aubrie Swanson, Nikki Maynard (Brandon), Abby Swanson; step-grandchildren Ashley, Alexa, Abbey, and Aubrey Daley; six great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Swanson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Wanda Johnson, his brother Charles Swanson, and his first wife Iva Garner Swanson.
After graduating from Quay High School, Kenneth entered the Army and spent three years serving his country, including time in Germany.
Ken Swanson Sr. was a avid hunter and fisherman. He was also active in the Sand Springs sportsman club shooting steel silhouettes and other shooting competitions.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 22 at Highland Cemetery in Pawnee, OK. Viewing will be Thursday, July 21 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. at Poteet Funeral Home, 600 Illinois, Pawnee, OK. Ken Swanson Jr. will be at the Funeral home between 11:00 Am to 5:00 Pm to meet friends and family at the at viewing.
