Hubert E. Robinson, longtime Ponca City resident, died Monday, January 19, 2004 at Via Christi Oklahoma Regional Medical Center. He was 80 years of age.
The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 22, 2004 at Albright United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Sheila Combs-Francis, Pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at 2:30 PM at the Highland Cemetery in Pawnee. Arrangements are made under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.
Hubert was born on May 18, 1923 in Llano, Texas to Samuel Houston and Mary Ida (Ratliff) Robinson. He attended schools in Tyro, Kansas and Morrison, Oklahoma. He married Deloris Jane Banning on September 24, 1949, in Pawnee. They have made their home in Ponca City for many years.
Hubert was employed by Chevron/Gulf Oil Company for over 30 years as an oil field pumper. He has been a member of Albright United Methodist Church since 1934. He was involved in the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and the Explorers for several years and served as a Cub Scout Master and Boy Scout Master. He also coached little league baseball and was Santa Clause for many years for many children here in Ponca City. He loved his church and was devoted to his family. He was an avid gardener and had a passion for horses.
He is survived by: his wife Deloris of the home; two sons, Max Robinson and his wife Sara, Dennis Robinson and his wife Jo; three grandchildren, Kelli Park and her husband Scott, Carrie Robinson, and Cody Robinson and his wife Mandi. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son Ross Allen Robinson and one sister, Gladys Young.
Casket bearers will be Leonard Freise, David Chapman, Charles Banning, Lonnie Wittmer, Ray Balthrop and Dean Villines. Honorary Casketbearers will be Eldridge Manering, Don Carder, James Hastings, Russell Allen, John Cannon, Walter Brown, Bill Brown and the Friendship Class members.
