Melvin Oscar Goff was born August 8, 1930 to Oscar William and Anna Dora (Dorl) Goff in Burnham, Oklahoma. He was called to his heavenly home on February 4, 2020.
Melvin married Patsy Mae Beaver on March 14, 1952. They were blessed with 67 years of marriage. Melvin served in the Korean War and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska bringing his young bride with him. This was before Alaska was a state. Melvin and Pat returned to Oklahoma in 1954. Melvin worked for his Father- In- Law David Beaver running the Paraland Service Station. Back home their family bloomed having three daughters. Melvin was baptized March 16, 1952 two days after marrying Pat. Melvin later started to work for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol promoting to Chief Dispatcher and retiring after 25 years of service at Troop K which was located in Pawnee. Melvin was a life-time member of the Good Sam's Camping Club.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Ruth Rush, Leona Hyatt, and Edna Mae Radley.
Melvin is survived by the love of his life Pat, three daughters; Melvetta Rowland and husband Gary of Newcastle, Oklahoma, Marcia Long and husband Bobby of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Melissa Cartmell and husband Steven of Kellyville, Oklahoma, five grandchildren; Robert Long and wife Tammy, Krista Lavicky and husband Roy, Maegan Shaw and husband Shawn, Anna Westhoff and husband Adam,Rachel Sires and husband Josh, twelve great grandchildren; Kolbey Long, Jakob Lavicky, Zoey Long, Lexi Lavicky, Lukas Lavicky, Brodey Long, Sailor Kelley, Piper Kelley, Abi Lavicky, Trey Long, Everett Westhoff, and Owen Westhoff, sister; Dorothy Hale of Wichita, Kansas.
Services will be held Saturday 2:00 P.M. February 8, 2020 in the Pawnee First Baptist Church with Pastor John Coker officiating.
Burial followed in the Highland Cemetery in Pawnee, Oklahoma with military honors. Services were entrusted to the Poteet Funeral Home and Cremation Services, friends can leave a memory for the family at www.poteetfuneralhome.com
