Johnny Edgar Buckallew

Johnny Edgar Buckallew
August 18, 1946 ~ October 26, 2024

Johnny Edgar Buckallew, 78-year-old Afton resident, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was born on August 18, 1946, in Fairland, Oklahoma to Sam R. Buckallew, Jr. and Oma W. (McCoin) Buckallew. Johnny was a 1964 graduate of Afton High School.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army from February 1965 until January of 1968. Johnny worked at B. F. Goodrich for 15 years until the plant closed, he then became a heat and air technician. He also loved to do woodworking, and was rebuilding a couple of older tractors. Johnny was very mechanical and crafty, loved doing things with his hands. He was a member of the Otterbein Country Church near Langley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jackie Buckallew in 2007, brothers, Jerry Ray Buckallew in 2018, and Jimmie Dale Buckallew in 2020.

The family includes his sons Frank Buckallew and wife Trish of Vinita, Shawn Buckallew of Enid, stepson Will Felts of Houston, daughter, Ursula Bennett and husband Chad of Tulsa, stepdaughter, Misty Daniels and husband Rick of Houston, sister in laws, Barbara Buckallew and Shirley Buckallew, grandchildren, Marco, Chrissy, Jordan Buckallew, Emily, Darren Hale, Matthew TseTsaKis, Kiley Whatley (Chip), Madison Durham, Destiny Buckallew, Raylene Buckallew (Chase Magallanes), great grandchildren, Olivia Mason, Freya Mason, Emersyn Buckallew, and a very special friend, Rosemary Millikan.

The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Otterbein Country Church, Pastor Lee Mitchell will officiate. Military honors will be presented by the United States Army. Online condolences may be made at www.highsmithfh.com or on the funeral home Facebook page. Arrangements are in the care of Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Services of Vinita. “Vinita’s only locally owned and operated funeral home.”
