Mary Ann Thomure passed away on Monday December 28, 2020, in Grove OK, after a four-year struggle with dementia.
She was born in Frontenac, Kansas, on November 7, 1933 to Mary and John Ziegler. The family moved to Girard, Ks a few years later when her father opened Ziegler Jewelry. She enjoyed recalling Girard as a very busy town around the square on weekends at that time.
She graduated from Girard High School in 1951 and moved to Wichita, Ks, where she started her career at Boeing Aircraft. She was proud to be selected to receive training in the aircraft industry when very few women were represented. She acquired the nickname of Zig and was known by it for many years.
She married Rod Thomure on May 31, 1957, in Wichita, KS. They were both employed in the aircraft industry and traveled extensively across the USA in the following years. They especially enjoyed riding their motorcycles in their free time. After living in Georgia for 20 years, they retired to Grove, OK. in 1994
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Rod Thomure, her brother John Ziegler, a sister Margret Evans and parents John and Mary Ziegler.
She is survived by her brother Bill Ziegler, Ft Scott, KS, and her sisters Marie Schettler, Plano, Tx. And Donna Doti, Terre Haute, IN.
The funeral will be at the graveside on Monday January 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM, in the GAR Cemetery in Miami, OK. The services are under the directions of the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK
