Madelyn "Carol" (Haddock) Miller went to be with our Heavenly Father on July 4th, 2017, at the age of 75.
Carol was born on Feb. 13, 1940, to Willis C. and Pearl Haddock in a home built by her father in Barnsdall, OK. She was the youngest of eight children and when she was two, the family moved to Ponca City where she grew up and graduated high school. She also went to beauty school there, but only worked as a hairdresser off and on for the early part of her life. But she would use these skills throughout most of her adult years on her husband, children and many other family members. She was the aunt that the boys would trust to "only cut this much" when their moms insisted on a haircut, though long hair was cool.
Carol married Jack Herbert Miller of Blackwell, OK, on Nov. 25, 1961, at First Baptist Church of Ponca City. They moved to Bartlesville in 1966 and made their home here for the rest of her life. They were married for 55 and a 1/2 years. While their girls were in elementary school, Carol worked in the lunch room at Oak Park Elementary School with several wonderful ladies and really enjoyed getting to know all the kids her daughters were in school with. She worked at West Star / Arvest Bank's trust department in Bartlesville for 23 years before retiring in 2002.
Her family was the joy of her life and spending time with them was her favorite thing. Carol also loved sewing, quilting, baking and playing in her flowers. She was a longtime member of the Bartlesville Garden Club with many friends who she knew well over 30 years. She spent lots of time with the girls at Girl Scout Camp and at softball practice and games. She was the most unselfish person you could ever meet and had a wonderful way with people. She always had a ear and strong shoulder for any family member, friend or co-worker who needed her, but wouldn't hesitate to give advice if she thought someone needed to be set on the right path. And she was usually right. She was a Christian lady who always set an excellent example. She loved to laugh and had a smile that warmed you to your soul. Carol will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by husband Jack Miller; daughters Sheryl Hamilton and husband Boyd of Calera, OK, Carla Walsh of OKC, and Darla Miller of OKC; five grandsons: Connor, Chase and Cooper Hamilton, and Jackson and Mason Walsh; brother Harley "Gene" Haddock; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six of her seven siblings: Lacretia Stout, Melvin Haddock, "Punch" Haddock, Judy Basore, Gwen "Dot" Herrington and Joyce Dodge; and an infant son Stephen Lee Miller.
Visitation will be held Thursday 12-8 at the Davis Family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 7, at the Davis Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplin Dan Grimes officiating. Interment will follow in the Ethel Reece Cemetery in Barnsdall. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared with Carol's family at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
