Wilma Lee McCauley was born to Ralphus and Lurlea Linch on June 30, 1930, and departed this life May 10, 2014. She was tragically orphaned by age six and was raised by her grandmother Mary Linch.
Wilma married Russell McCauley, Sr. on Feb 9, 1952. Russell Sr. preceded Wilma in death on August 1, 2001.
Wilma is survived by daughter Teresa Lomax and husband Ray of Grove, son Russell McCauley, Jr., of Barnsdall, and daughter Anita Sumner and husband Mike of Bartlesville. Other survivors include grandchildren Jamie Lomax and Tracy Thompson, Joanna Holliday, Will and Randi McCauley, Brianna and Adam Hibdon, Michelle Sumner, and Shawn and Shelley Sumner. She took much delight in her great-grandchildren Samantha and Rebecca Holliday, Stasha and Kennedy Cole, Annabella Hibdon, Devin Sanders and husband Paul, Chase, Colton, and Chance Sumner and her great-great-grandchild Kiara Sanders. Wilma also leaves behind her caregivers and friends Doris Parker and Tianna Pease.
Wilma achieved the distinction of being valedictorian of the 1949 graduating class of Barnsdall High School. Wilma then graduated from Bartlesville Business College and began working as a secretary for Phillips Petroleum Company. After taking time off for childrearing,Wilma returned to work serving as secretary to the principal of Barnsdall High School then as executive secretary to the superintendent and as treasurer and clerk for the school board. She also volunteered as the secretary and treasurer of the Barnsdall United Methodist Church.
Wilma enjoyed bird watching, wildflowers, and spending time with family and friends. She was a dearly loved and admired wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
Services for Mrs. McCauley will be held onTuesday, at 10:00 AM in the Light House Church, Barnsdall. Rev. Barry Gott will be the officiant. Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, Bartlesville. Interment will be at Ethel Reece Cemetery in Barnsdall.
