Paul James Lemley, 94, of Barnsdall, died at 8:40 A.M. on Friday, September 5, 2014 at his home.

Funeral services for Mr. Lemley will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Barnsdall will Rev. Bill Spencer officiating. Interment will be in the Ethel Reece Cemetery at Barnsdall directed by the Stumpff-Barnsdall Funeral Home.

Friends who wish may call for visitation at the Stumpff-Barnsdall Funeral Home on Monday and Tuesday until 8 P.M. and on Wednesday from 9 AM until 11:30 A.M.

Mr. Lemley was born at Wolco, Oklahoma on March 3, 1920 the son of Seward J. Lemley and Fern (Thomas) Lemley. He grew up and received his education at Wolco and graduated from Barnsdall High School. He attended Oklahoma A & M at Stillwater where he received education in Animal Husbandry and was a member of the ROTC. He served in the Pacific Theatre in New Guinea and Australia with the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Lemley was married to Nellie Mae Hurt on April 4, 1945 at Rochester, Minnesota. He was employed with Shell Oil Company, first at Three Sands near Tonkawa, at Elk City and also in Michigan and then Midland, Texas until his retirement in 1982 with over 30 years of service with the company. Following his retirement, the Lemley family returned to the Barnsdall community to live in retirement. Mrs. Lemley preceded him in death on April 22, 2000. Mr. Lemley was a longtime member member of the First Baptist Church at Barnsdall where he had also served as a Deacon and loved to run hounds. Mr. Lemley is survived by one daughter, Jill St. Laurent of Barnsdall, one son, Ned Lemley of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pauline (Lemley) Johnson.
