Jimmie Lee Cannon was born July 30, 1933, in Hominy, Oklahoma to James (Jim) Shephard and Leona (Sells) Shephard. She grew up on the Drummond ranch in the Wild Horse area. She graduated from Prue High School in 1953. While in school Jimmie loved to play sports; she played basketball, softball and volleyball. Jimmie met and fell in love with Buster Pete Cannon. They got married on May 9, 1953.
Jimmie lived her life to care for Pete and their girls, Janet and Betty. As a housewife and mother, for her it was the best job in the world. Jimmie and Pete were very active in their girls lives. They would go to all their school events. Their front door was like a revolving door for all the kids in the neighborhood. She loved to cook for her family and anyone else that came along. It was nothing for her to cook squirrel or rabbit.
Jimmie and Pete loved going fishing. They would go to Keystone and fish from the bank. The family spent lots of time camping and enjoying their time at the lake. They loved to hunt for mushrooms and poke to make poke salad. They also enjoyed going to yard sales, flea markets, and auction sales.
Jimmie Cannon passed from this life at the age of 90 years on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home. She was loved by the staff at Cleveland Manor, and she loved them.
