Morgan Jonas Steele Jr., resident of Ponca City, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at his home. He was 74 years of age.
He was born November 21, 1936 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, the son of Jonas Morgan Steele Sr. and Goldie Marie Shelton Steele. He was a 1956 graduate of Ponca City High School. He worked for Chaplin Oil Company and on pipelines before retiring. He was formerly married to Roberta Thompson Steele.
He attended the Ponca City First Church of God. His enjoyments included gardening, cooking and TV. He was an avid OU fan and knew all the names of the coaches, players, their high schools and pro teams they now play for.
Morgan is survived by one son, Teddy Steele and one daughter, Terry Steele, both of Enid, Oklahoma one grandson, Travis Steele one sister, Betty Lou Pino and husband, Bill one brother, Victor Steele one uncle, Andy Shelton of Enid. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan Steele Sr. and Goldie Marie Shelton Steele one brother, Arnold Dean Steele, one sister, Ruby Rose Anderson and one infant sister, Lucy Ann Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 at the First Church of God in Ponca City with Pastor Alan Popken presiding with music provided by Clyde and Patty Otipoby and Tony and Vivian Hays. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Pawhuska, Oklahoma Cemetery. Open visitation will be held at Grace Memorial Chapel.
