James E Ikenberry, 87, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in the Bartlesville Care Center.
James was born February 17, 1929 in Barnsdall, OK, the son of William Franklin and Lillian Cecil (Jones) Ikenberry. On May 4, 1945, he married the former Wanda A Whitchurch in Berryville, AR, a union that lasted for over 71 years. James had worked as an oilfield pumper in the area for many years.
From 1988 – 2005, he was a faithful member of the Wynona Assembly of God Church, where he also served as a board member for the Church. In 2005, the Ikenberrys moved to Blackwell, OK, where they attended the Bethesda Assembly of God Church.
In his spare time, James enjoyed working with leather, making purses, wallets, belts, bullwhips and saddle cinches. He was also an avid reader who enjoyed western novels written by Louis L'amour and Zane Grey, and, of course, his Bible. James also enjoyed fishing when he had the chance. As far as his family was concerned, he was the best Dad in the world and loved his kids.
He leaves surviving his wife, Wanda Ikenberry; sons James E Ikenberry, Jr, and wife, Christine, and Chaden Cash Ikenberry; daughters Vickie Lynn Stephens and Deborah Eilain Bush and husband, Kent; sister Patti Bruce; sister-in-law Ellen Ikenberry; eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Roger Ikenberry and Timothy Ikenberry; brothers Wallace, Bill and Donald Ikenberry; and a sister, Trivian Rose; and a son-in-law, Jerry Stephens.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 3, 11:00AM, at the Wynona Assembly of God Church. Rev. David Downing will officiate assisted by Rev. Jared Schoultz. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery.
