Bonnie Jean Tucker Helmer, known to her friends as Jean, passed away on November 11, 2016 at age 89. She was born on September 29, 1927 in Marion, KS, to Emmett and Bess (Boice) Tucker. She lived in Bartlesville at the time of her death but always considered Pawhuska her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ben Helmer. They married on September 20, 1947 and together had three children: Jo Ellyn Wheeler, married to Dub Wheeler; Mark Helmer, married to Cindy Green; and Richie Helmer, married to Theresa Cole. Jean's family also includes five beloved grandchildren: Jordan Solorzano, Kelsey Franklin, Sara McElroy, Chandler Helmer, Tucker Helmer and eight equally beloved great grandchildren: Gehrig, Gabriella, Gracen, Soren, Arwen, Kellen, Keaton, and Kinley.
Her family will remember her as a voracious reader who loved ice cream, Driller baseball, Dancing With the Stars, playing bridge with her friends and hosting family gatherings. Her grandchildren all have precious memories of standing around the chop block in her kitchen making cookies with their Mimi.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 16, at 2:00 pm at the Pawhuska Cemetery. Rev. Kathy Morris will officiate.
The family wishes to express their appreciatIon to the staff of Shenandoah Home Health for the care they provided during her stay at Tallgrass Estates.
