Carolyn Pittman was born on May 7, 1938, in Blue Ridge, Texas, and departed this life on Saturday, December 10, 2016, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 78.
Carolyn, the daughter of William Dewey and Opal (Richardson) Braswell, was a resident of Shawnee. She married Kenneth Wayne Pittman on July 30, 1955. Carolyn earned a Master's Degree in education from Texas Women's University. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Paden.
Carolyn retired from her career as a school teacher. She taught elementary school in Saginaw, TX and Skiatook, OK. She also taught school at Rosemont Middle School in Ft. Worth, TX. Carolyn also served in churches with her husband Kenneth, who was a pastor, for over 40 years. They retired in Skiatook.
Carolyn enjoyed sewing for her grandkids and spending time with family. She really enjoyed summers, so that she could sleep late. She could be found at Sonic for Happy Hour to get her beloved Coke. Carolyn was Kenneth's wife, a Mamaw, and a teacher.
Carolyn's parents and husband of 52 years preceded her in death.
Her survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law Michael Wayne Pittman of Bridgeport, TX, Terry Layne and Vickie Pittman of Paden, OK, and William Thomas and Amanda Pittman of Dodge City, KS; brother Michael Kent Braswell of Denton, TX; sister Virginia Sue Dunivan of Arlington, TX; 10 grandchildren Randee, Kristee, Matt, Lacee, Becky, Kellee, Tim, Kaitlin, Hannah, Felicity; 13 great grandchildren Kate, Claire, Maisy, Ali, Riley, Joseph, Deanna, Kees, Kora, Kana, Teighan, Delaney, Cash and many other family and friends.
The Pittman family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 10:00 AM, at Paden First Baptist Church in Paden with Rev. Jason Yarborough and Rev. Chuck Self officiating. Interment will follow at Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook at 3:00 PM. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
