Funeral services for Carl Van Mahorney, 71, of Skiatook, Oklahoma, were held Monday, March 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Don Queen officiating. Interment in Osage Garden Cemetery was under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home.
Musical selections for the service were Peace In The Valley , Daddys Hands and Amazing GraceCasket bearers for the service were Jackie Searan, Tom Searan, Jim Burt, Jimmy Burt, Dustin Rupert, Larry Deering and Otto Searan. Honorary casket bearers were Dan Cohea, Steven Sherrill, Michael Cohea, Isaac Sherrill and The Odd Fellows. The I.O.O.F did the graveside rights.
Carl passed away on March 20, 2008, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on June 19, 1936 in Collinsville, Oklahoma to Claude Van and Hazel Laverne (Barnes) Mahorney. Carl married Thora Lee Searan on December 10, 1958 in Inola, OK. They moved to Skiatook in 1972. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sperry, and the 1.O.O.F for about 50 years.
Carl is survived by his wife Thora Lee of the home, a daughter Thora B. Cohea and husband Dan of Skiatook; four grandchildren: Michael Cohea and wife Lexie of Skiatook; Amy Sherrill and husband Steven of Claremore; Briana and Whitney Marsh of Skiatook; adopted daughter Jane Hines of Skiatook; two great grandchildren: Lillie Beth and Isaac Gregory Sherrill, two brothers: Tommy Hoffman of Texas; Frankie Joe Hoffman of Collinsville; step father Leo Hoffman of Collisnville; and numerous other family members and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.
