Virgil Dean Coon

November 28, 1931 ~ January 11, 2025

In keeping with his wishes, a private family-arranged celebration of life service for Virgil Dean Coon, 93, of Skiatook, OK, were held Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the American Legion Post 131 in Skiatook, OK. Burial in Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook, OK, will be held at a later date.

Virgil was born November 28, 1931, in Avant, OK, to James Dee Coon and Nancy Ellen (Cook) Coon. He passed away January 11, 2025, in Skiatook, OK with immediate family by his side.

Virgil attended school in Avant, where he married his high school sweetheart, Phoebe Landis. Right after graduation, he went on to work for an oil company now known as Sun Oil Company where he retired at the age of 55 after working there for 38 years. Virgil loved gardening, woodworking and reading. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Carol Barker, Debra Clare and husband, David, and Tammie Webb and husband, Hoot; grandchildren, Erin Latty and husband, Tony, Justin Clare and fiance'e, Gracie Klutts, Samuel Armentor, Lucas Armentor, and Dagan Webb and wife, Sydney Brown; great-grandchildren, Tate Waddle and wife, Briana, Addison Reeves, Liberty Latty, Taylor Clare, Sylas Clare, Lane Armentor and wife, Cassie, Austin Armentor, Ryan Armentor, Autumn Armentor, Calissta Armentor; great-great-grandchildren, Tatium Waddle, Tallulah Clare, Maverick Armentor, Malcom Armentor, Miles Armentor, Carter Armentor and Charlie Webb; sisters, Edna Calhoun and husband, Dennis, and Ada Wilson; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by wife, Phebe Coons; parents, Jim and Tootsie Coon; 4 brothers; 4 sisters; and brother-in-law, Houston Barker.

Arrangements were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.
