Viola Rose Redinger, oldest of two daughters born to John Franklin and Lucy Maude (Carr) Andrews was born January 21, 1920 at Barnsdall, Oklahoma. She departed this life on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Seiling Community Hospital at the age of 92 years.
The Andrews family lived in Bartlesville where Viola's father worked in the oil fields. Later they moved to Pitcher, Oklahoma and to Miami, Oklahoma where her parents carried freight for Mistletoe Express. Viola's father died at an early age and the family moved back to Bartlesville where her mother took in ironing to make a living. It was on a trip to Chester, Oklahoma to visit relatives, Viola's mother met Frank Abbott and later the couple married and made their home near Chester where Viola attended school. Viola was united in marriage to Guss Merle Redinger, October 3, 1940. They made their home southeast of Chester where they raised their family. Viola worked at the Shamrock and Chester Cafe's. She also worked in housekeeping at the Seiling Hospital and the dietary department of the Seiling Nursing Center. Mostly, she was a homemaker for her family. She enjoyed being a member of the Seiling Roundup Club.
She is survived by three sons, Don Abbott and wife Mary of Foss, Bob Redinger and wife Goldie of Seiling and Wayne Redinger and wife Cindy of Chester; two daughters, Barbara Evans of Seiling and Jeanie Simons and husband Wayne of Chester, one daughter-in-law, Cathy Redinger of Seiling, seventeen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and thirteen great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, her husband Guss May 31, 1998 and one son, Bill May 29, 2000.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 at the Redinger Chapel with Pastor Orville White, officiating. Interment will follow in Brumfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Viola's memory to the Brumfield Cemetery with Redinger Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
