Ernest Gene Edwards, 63, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Ernest was born June 29, 1953 in Shidler, Oklahoma to John and Betty Gay (Harrison) Edwards. He was raised and received his education at Nelagoney for 2 years, at Highland Schools near Bartlesville and Later in Bartlesville, graduating from College High School in 1973.

Ernest married Sandra Diane Friend on November 13, 1999 in Bartlesville where they made their home until Ernest's death. During his working years Ernest had been employed with Dillard's for 16 years and the Bartlesville Community Center for 3 years. Most recently Ernest was employed as Building Engineer at First Presbyterian Church.

Ernest was an avid weightlifter and bodybuilder for many years. Ernest was the Mater of Grip, his families style of Martial Arts; sharing his knowledge of Martial Arts by teaching at the YMCA.

Ernest was known for his love of God and people. Ernest knew no strangers and showed loved and kindness to all he met.

Ernest is survived by his wife, Sandra of the home; father John C. Edwards; brother Lanny Edwards and wife Sue, sister Johna Gay Jester and her husband Andy all of Bartlesville; niece Andrea Dawn Simmons and Chris, nephew John Jester all of Bartlesville.

Ernest was preceded in death by mother Betty G. Edwards and by uncle Dale Edwards, aunt Lolla Dodd and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Graveside Services will be held 2:00pm, Monday, August 29, 2016 at the Jeremiah Cemetery on the Edwards Farm. Funeral services are under the direction of Stumpff Funeral & Crematory.
