Judith Tiger lovingly known as simply "Judy" gained her wings, joined her Lord and cherished husband Jim Tiger in Heaven on Wednesday afternoon, January 21, 2026 when she passed peacefully at home in rural Fairfax, Oklahoma. She had celebrated her 88th birthday this year.
Born Judith Graves on January 15, 1938 in Ponca City, Okla. to dear parents Adolphus Graves and Josephine (Henderson) Graves. She was a proud member of the Osage Nation and the Pawnee Nation.
Her high school years were spent at Chilocco Indian School where she was selected as Chilocco Indian Princess. Music was a favorite and dancing was a close behind while in school. Judy met the love of her life, Jim Joe Tiger, while they both were attending Chilocco Indian School.
They were united in marriage on July 20, 1956 in Tulsa. The couple were blessed to share 54 years together before Jim's passing in March 2011. Three children, Bruce Terry, and Paula completed their family.
Most of all, Judy loved being a homemaker. She also spent many years working for Blutcher Boot Co. in Fairfax. In the mid 90's Judy participated with the Friday Outreach program located through the New Hope Church cooking and delivering meals for the Senior Citizens when they shut down on Fridays.
Judy was a member of the Pah-Sue-Lee Osage Women's Club, was currently the oldest living member. She loved the club with passion. She belonged to the New Hope Church in Fairfax. In 2022, the Chief of the Osage Nation nominated her for the Native American Lifetime Achievement Award which she enjoyed.
Those she leaves behind hold many cherished memories including her children, Bruce Tiger, Terry and husband Chuck Evans, Paula and husband Rey Martinez; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and other extended family members.
Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Sonny Howard Graves, and sisters Anita Whitlatch and Joan Barrone.
Judy will lie in state at Grayhorse Chapel beginning Friday, January 23, 2026. Weather permitting, there will be a Wake Service on Monday, at 7p.m. at the Chapel. Funeral service will be10a.m., Tuesday, January 27 with Pastor Taos Barrone officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairfax City Cemetery next to her beloved Jim. Arrangements are in the care of Hunsaker Wooten Funeral Home, Fairfax.
Judy was a very devoted spiritual woman who was known for her generosity and loving heart.
