Fairfax Community lost a long-time resident, Tuesday February 22, 2022. Walter Kellow Davis known mostly by his family and friends as W.K. or Dub, passed away peacefully at Fairfax Manor Nursing Home at the age of 80.
He was born in Waldron, Arkansas April 12, 1941, to Cledis and Ann Davis. He grew up in Plainview Ark. and graduated high school there in 1959. He then moved to Fairfax, Oklahoma and married Mary Marie Kensel on November 14, 1960. They had two children in the home when they moved to Alva.
In Alva, W.K. owned and operated his own business, Alva Iron and Metals. In 1976 he sold the business and moved his family back to Fairfax where he owned and operated the Fairfax Automotive (Green Light) parts store for many years. During his years at Greenlight, he was great at everything he did at the store. His sales volume was so high he earned two free trips to Hawaii for himself and Mary. Later, he sold the store and began working from his home selling pipe and scrap metal out of his own yard near their home.
W.K. was preceded in death by his father and mother, Cledis and Ann Davis; brother-in-law and sister, Dan and Shirley Daniels; brother-in-law Jerry Morgan; sister-in-law Irene Price; one infant son Billy Mark Davis; and his father and mother-in-law, Wallace and Venus Yandell.
He is survived by his wife Mary Davis of their home, sister Linda Morgan of Danville, Ark., son Mike Davis of Glencoe, daughter Terri and her husband Ty Koch of Fairfax, grandson Chad Koch of Pennsylvania, granddaughter Cassi Smith and her two children Kelbi and Briley all of Cleveland, grandson Chance Davis and his girlfriend Shelby Harger of Stillwater, great grandsons Landon, Matthew, and Nicholas Koch all of Perkins. He also had many other relatives and friends he loved dearly.
W.K. loved to hunt, fish, and camp in his spare time. He loved all the hunting trips he went on with all his friends, where they say,"he was the best cook they ever had!" He was an avid OU football fan and loved listening to and going to watch the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Graveside Service will be 2p.m., Monday, February 28, 2022, at the Fairfax City Cemetery with Pastors Lewis Bernard and Roy Edwards officiating. Pall bearers are Chance Davis, Brad Trunk, DeWayne Trunk, Timmy Robertson, Luke Bernard, and Landon Koch.
