Peggy Joyce Shafer, 97, of Ponca City, OK, left this life on Tuesday, December 12, 2024. A private, family burial will take place at Avant Cemetery, Avant, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
Peggy was born on Sunday, October 25, 1927, in Pershing, OK, to William Lagal and Elsie (Steele) Crismon. After graduating from high school, she married Lloyd "Bill" Shafer on October 25, 1947, in Barnsdall, OK. She worked as a switchboard operator at the Ponca City Hospital for several years.
Peggy is survived by: her daughter, Genie Jordan of Ponca City, OK; son, Charles "Chuck" Shafer and his wife, Jeanne, of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Gary Duane Jordan and his husband, David Barz, of Yukon, OK, Christi Neilson of Ponca City, OK, Shasta Akers of Yale, OK, Staceyleigh Shafer-Harris and her husband, Chip, of Yukon, OK; great-grandchildren, Taylor Neilson and his wife, Morgan, Hunter Neilson and his wife Raevyn of Ponca City, OK, Cameron Akers, Kacie Akers, and Cayden Lewis of Yale, OK, Kingston Harris of Yukon, OK; one great-grandchildren, Lincoln Neilson. Peggy was preceded in death by: her husband, Bill Shafer; mother, Elsie Crismon; brothers, William Lagal, Gene Lagal; and son-in-law, Gary R. Jordan.
