David Louis Supernaw, age 81 of Sulphur, OK, passed from this life on Wednesday evening, March 5, 2025. David was born January 10, 1944, at Hominy, OK to Charles A. and Rachel R. (Pitts) Abrams. He was raised and received his education in Hominy and Pawhuska where he was involved with the track and field teams. In 1967, David enlisted in the US Army where he served two tours in Vietnam. Upon his discharge in December 1969, he returned to Osage County. David made his home in Pawhuska, Tulsa and Norman before moving to Sulphur, OK where he has resided for the past 26 years. On June 20, 2000, David was united in marriage to Glenda (Stillwell) Lowrance at Sulphur, whom he had met at Sulphur Veterans Center.
One thing that made the relationship special was that every day, David told Glenda "How much he loved her and that she was the best thing that ever happened to him". During his Prayers to God, he told him this over and over. Memories that the family have are Lots of vacations all over, the western United States and Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Louisiana. Trips all over Texas and the Galveston and Padre Island were memorable. Being a member of both the Quapaw and Osage Tribes of Oklahoma, one of his favorite pastimes was telling stories of his childhood and his time in the Army, including his tours of Vietnam. His pet kittens, Rosie, Sonny and Missy were a joy to him. David was a friendly person, who loved to laugh and was always grateful to his family that he inherited when he married Glenda.
Those who survive and hold cherished memories are his wife: Glenda; David's inherited children - Landon Lowrance, Charlotte Bronstad and Caroline Hunter; his siblings - Charlie Supernaw, Kenney Perry, Billie Abrams, Evelyn Meely and Rosemary Olivia. Also surviving are his grandchildren - Christy, Casey, Chanse, Cortney, Ryan, Emma and Rebecca; and great grandchildren - Hayley, Lila, Daxton, Mavrick and Remmy; and three sisters - Evelyn, Rosemary and Biggie.
Traditional Indian services will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 9:30 AM in the Hominy Indian Village Chapel with Billy Proctor and David Nagle officiating. Burial will follow at the A J Powell Memorial Cemetery. The traditional Indian feast will conclude the events at the Osage Community Building in the village.
