Joyce Marie Sisson of Hominy, Oklahoma was called home February 3, 2025, at the age of 93.
Joyce was born on November 14, 1931, to Oscar Carl and Louise (Freudenthaler) Baker in Wynona Oklahoma.
When Joyce was a baby, they moved to Hominy where she went first through 12th grade. Joyce was a cheerleader & Homecoming queen her senior year. Joyce worked at the Hominy phone company while her fiance' was in Korea for a few years.
Joyce married Raymond Earl Sisson on June 21st, 1952, where they made Hominy their home. Joyce went to work for Farm Bureau insurance company when their two children were school age. In 1971 Joyce & Raymond purchased the Tip Top Drive In and turned it into Sisso's Bar BBQ where she worked till around 1992. In 1993 she went to work at the Rexall Drug Store as a clerk for 20 plus years.
Joyce was a lifetime member of the Epsilon Kappa (ESA) for 67 years and has a bench dedicated to her at the Hominy Water Park. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Hominy and loved the members dearly.
Preceding her in death was her husband; Raymond, parents; and grandson Braden Ray.
She is survived by a son, Mike & Connie Sisson of Santa Rose CA. daughter, Anita & Gary Fry of Hominy, brother Ken Baker of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, 4 grandchildren; Michael, Eric, Kaitlin Sisson, and Ryan Wooten, two nieces and two nephews, two bonus daughters Jeanie Schwenker, and Lynn Schwenker Cook both of Florence Alabama.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 8, 2025, in the sanctuary of the First Christan Church in Hominy with Chaplain Dusty Giles officiating. Joyce will be laid to rest next to her husband Raymond at the A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery, Hominy. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the First Christan Church of Hominy.
Arrangements and services were entrusted to the Powell Funeral Home of Hominy.
