Bill Gene Hurd, lifelong Wynona resident, passed from this life on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the age of 95 years. Bill was born February 18, 1930, at Wynona to Milton and Eileen (Kearns) Hurd. He was one of fourteen children born into the family. Bill was raised and received his education in Wynona. On January 1, 1951, he was united in marriage to Patricia Garrison in Arkansas. To this union, three children were born. Bill was a rancher and oilman his entire life. First, working as a pipeliner but later chose ranching and cattle as his lifelong ambition. Bill was a humble, generous and funny individual and loved spending time talking about his cattle, but most importantly his grandchildren. A man of faith, he attended the Wynona Assembly of God Church and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge at one time.
Those that survive and hold many cherished memories include his wife of 74 years - Patricia; children - Billy Hurd, Jr of Wynona, OK, Vicky Hurd of Wynona and Sandi Hurd Houseman of Austin, Texas. Also surviving is a brother Matthew Hurd of Springfield, MO, five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 12 siblings.
Funeral services for Bill will be Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 2:30 pm in the Chapel of the Powell Funeral Home, Hominy with David Downing officiating. Burial will follow in the A J Powell Memorial Cemetery, Hominy, OK.
