Stephanie Ellen Fields-Estes passed away on February 12, 2025, at the age of 71, in Hominy, Oklahoma. Stephanie was a proud member of the Osage Nation and belonged to the Sky Clan. Her Osage name is Lon-Su-Weh being named by her grandmother Helen Pratt Matin.
Stephanie was born on July 16, 1953, in Hominy, Oklahoma, the daughter of John Alvin and Lenora Rosa (Matin) Fields. Stephanie attended school at Middle Enterprise West of Hominy from first grade through sixth grade. Then, starting high school in Hominy, where she completed her education. Stephanie attended Northern Oklahoma College at Tonkowa, where she graduated as a registered nurse. Stephanie initially started working as a registered nurse at the Laureate Clinic in Tulsa. Stephanie was united in marriage to Jack Dempsey Dobbins, Jr. on October 11, 1991, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the couple established their home in Hominy. She also worked as a home health nurse, at Doctors Hospital, Cleveland Manor Nursing Home, and OSU Medical Center. On September 23, 2022, in Pawnee, Oklahoma, Stephanie was united in marriage to Terry Dean Estes, and the couple made their home in Cleveland.
Stephanie was an accomplished seamstress - traditional Osage shirts were her specialty. She was a collector of miniatures, Tupperware and Case Knives. She enjoyed horse racing - recently attending the Indian Horse Racing Championship. She also enjoyed playing pool and participated in area leagues. Most of all, she loved time spent with her family.
Survivors are her husband, Terry Estes of Cleveland, Oklahoma; two children, Maurice Jerome Barnes, III, Micheal Ross Fields, grandchildren Geoffrey Fields, George Fields, Della Noel Garcia, Logan May, great-grandson Andrew Ross Thomas, Jr.; sisters Janis Carpenter, Marsha Holding, brother John Walter Fields and a host of other relatives and friends. Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lenora Fields; maternal grandparents, Walter and Helen Pratt Matin; husband, Jack Dobbins; brother, Patrick Fields; grandson, Andrew Ross Thomas; and a nephew, James Walter Fields.
Services will be held at 9:30 am, Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Holding Residence at 522 South Pettit in Hominy with Everett Waller speaking. Burial will follow in the A J Powell Memorial Cemetery at Hominy, Oklahoma. The traditional feast will be in the Hominy Indian Village Community Center.
