Donna Rae Atkinson, 91, passed from this life on December 29, 2022, at her home in Hominy, OK.
Donna Rae was born June 13, 1931, in Seibert, Colorado to Melvin Franklin Paxton and Geneva Paxton. Her father passed away when she was just a few months old. Her mother married John Oliver when Donna was about two years old.
Donna married Lloyd Hawley on March 11, 1950, in Winfield Kansas. They were married eleven years and had three children: Bobby, Judy, and Becky. Donna married Clarence Atkinson on November 20, 1976, in Wichita, Kansas. They were married for thirty-five years.
Donna worked in the nursing field in some capacity her whole life. Donna went back to school at fifty to become a registered nurse. She graduated in 1985 and worked until she was 88 years old; forced to retire after breaking her wrist and not able to perform CPR.
Donna is survived by two daughters Judy (Virgil) Amey, Becky (Jake) Klaver; a son Allen (Lisa) Atkinson; a brother Bill Oliver; two sisters Geraldine Preston, Shelia Deucker; eleven grandchildren Marc Marinelli, Lori Creasser, Jonathon Atkinson, Aimee Dennis, Abby Atkinson, Bobby Amey, Jason Penny, Matthew Penny, Mark Penny, Wayne Miller, Lisa Miller; twenty-one great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Atkinson; her son Bobby Hawley; her parents Melvin Paxton, Geneva and John Oliver; four sisters Betty Jones, Colleen Cooper, Maxine Corcoran, Annabell Koenig.
Funeral service for Donna will be 2:00pm Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Powell Funeral Service in Hominy, Oklahoma. Celebrant Dusty Giles will be officiating. Burial will be at AJ Powell Memorial Cemetery following service. Arrangements and service are overseen by Powell Funeral Service in Hominy, OK..
