Mamie Wilma McElhannon Been Williams a former resident of Henryetta passed away on June 16, 2006 in Okmulgee, Ok at the age of 79. Born January 18, 1927 in Paden, Ok to John and Donnie (Little) McElhannon.
She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Charles Been, 4 brothers; Olan, John, Clyde and Edgar McElhannon and 2 sisters; Lillie Martin and Audrey Vaughn. Also a granddaughter Elisha Been.
Over the years she worked at the Schulter Grocery Store, Patty Ann Restaurant, and a certified dietitian at he Okmulgee Hospital and at Morris Schools as a cook. She lived most of her life in Henryetta and retired to Grove, OK. After the death of her first husband Charley Been she worked at G&H Decoy where she met and married her current husband Herman Williams. She loved flowers and cooking her specialties like apple pie, biscuits and gravy and chicken and dumplings for her family.
Survived by: Husband: Herman Williams of the home, Children: Sherlene and David Maxwell of Jay, OK, Charlene and Joe Herzer of Granbury, TX, Robert and Pamela Been of Topeka, KS, Charley and Cindy Been of Morris, Stephen and Vickie Been of Okmulgee, Marguetta and Chuck Bayless of Tecumseh, KS, Herman Jerry Jr and Cindy Williams of Topeka, KS, Cheryl and John Berger of Cincinnati, Ohio, Karen and Darrell Weekly of Dover, KS, Many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren, Sister: Ruby and Treman Smith of Henryetta.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday for 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Services will be 10:00am Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at the Schulter Baptist Church with Rev. George Christy officiating. Interment will follow at the Salt Creek Cemetery in Wilson under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
