George A. Kern a longtime Henryetta resident passed away on Jan 1, 2006 in Tulsa, Ok at the age of 84. Born November 21, 1921 in Fairbault, MN to Albert and Magdalene (Karp) Kern. George owned and operated Kern's Grocery in Henryetta.
He married Nalda Dean Durant on March 11, 1943 in McAlester,OK. He served in the US Army during WWII, member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Michaels Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife Nalda on Feb 26, 2005, a daughter; Deirdre Jean Jackson and 2 sisters Agatha and Rita.
Survived by his children: Patricia Ann Marshall of Moore, OK,George Michael Kern of McAlester, Mark William Kern of Perry, Ok, Susan Victoria Fegaly of Tulsa, Daniel James Kern of Norman, Margaret Mary Collett of Dallas, Sharron Marie Sisson of Edmond, Gregory Dean Kern of Henryetta, Theresa Kay Evers of Tulsa, Renee Janet Kern of Oklahoma City, John Charles Kern of Denver, Co, 18 Grandchildren 12 Great Grandchildren, 2 Sisters: Rose Mahony of Norfolk, Virginia, Loretta Boyer of Iowa.
A Rosary will held 6:00pm Tuesday evening at St. Micahels Catholic Church.
Services will be 10:00am, Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at St Michaels Catholic Church with Father Peter Phong, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.
