Ethel Alexander
Dies of Cancer;
Burial Monday
Mrs. Ethel Alexander, 56, of 718 N. W. 30th, deputy county clerk since 1946, died in St. Anthony hospital Saturday of cancer. She had been ill since May.
A native of Logan county, she had lived in Oklahoma City for about 50 years.
A well-known figure in Oklahoma County political circles, Mrs. Alexander had served as claims auditor for the county clerk's office under the terms of Helen Nix and present county clerk, Joe Pitts.
She attended Central highschool and in 1942, enlisted in the Women's Army Corps, serving for 18 months.
Mrs. Alexander was a member of the crown Heights Methodist church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. J. T. Butler, 3149 W. Park, and Mrs. W. S. Graettinger, Washington, D. C.; two sisters, Mrs.
Roy Elder, 304 S. E. 41; and Mrs. Frank Harden, 2339 N. W. 16; two brothers, Elmer Davis, Natchidoches, La.; and James Davis, Los Angeles, Ca.; and one grandson, Tim Butler, 3149 W. Park.
The family has requested that no flowers be sent, but that, rather, contributions be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research
foundation for cancer.
Services will be at 5 p.m., Monday in the Crown Heights Methodist church, with burial in Sunny Lane cemetery under the direction of
the Guardian funeral home.
