Edward Vinson
August 30, 1947 - July 2, 2021
Services, with military honors, for Edward Ray Vinson, 73, of Enville, OK will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2021, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel of Marietta, OK with Minister Bob Smee officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. in the Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, OK under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Edward was born in Oklahoma City, OK on August 30, 1947, the son of Melvin Edward and Nancy Ellen (Walker) Vinson. He passed away on July 2, 2021, at his residence.
Edward grew up in Del City and graduated from Del City High School. He continued his education at Rose State College. Edward joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968. For his service, he was awarded three Purple Hearts, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and Expert Rifle Badge. Edward married the love of his life, Elaine Treadway on May 25, 1968, in Del City. He was a manager at Fred Jones Auto Manufacturing in Oklahoma City. Edward and Elaine relocated to Enville in 2006. Edward was a member of the Powell Church of Christ and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, but most of all, his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wanda Stone.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Vinson of the home; son, Billy Vinson and wife Melissa of Newcastle, OK; daughter, Shelley Hard and husband Brad of Plano, TX; brother, Richard Vinson and wife Linda of Edmond, OK; special niece, Rhonda Austin and husband Warren of Kingston, OK; grandchildren, Jesse Vinson and wife Emily of Tuttle, OK, and Karlee Dugas and husband Evan of McKinney, TX; great-grandchild Emberlee Vinson of Tuttle; and several nieces and nephews.
