Anna Jo Smith

November 18, 1935 - January 16, 2019

Anna Jo Smith passed away on the evening of Wednesday January 16th, 2019. She was born on November 18, 1935 in Hereford Texas to Porter Oliver and Fannie (Brumbelow) Southall. Anna lived on the family farm in Friona, TX and graduated from Hereford High School in 1954. She left the farm to attend nursing school in Dallas at Parkland Hospital. She graduated as a Registered Nurse. She met the love of her life, Gene A. Smith in Dallas. They were married on March 29, 1957. They started a family there and moved to Del City, Oklahoma where they have a home today. As a registered nurse for many years, Anna helped bring new babies into the world and cared for many patients in the Oklahoma City metro area.
Anna was preceded in death by her eldest son Glen, her parents Fannie and Porter, her five siblings; Christine, Eugene, Benthal, Patty Grace and John. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Gene, daughter Cheryl L. Smith, sons Craig E. (Audrey) Smith and Kirk A. (Sandra) Smith.
She adored her grandchildren Angela (Cesar) Ramirez of Houston, TX, Grant (Miriam) Smith of Del City, OK, Katie (Justin) McLane of Santa Fe, TX, Alyssa Smith currently sailing the seven seas in the Navy, Erica Smith just starting her college education and Sean Smith in High school. Her five great grandchildren have been wonderful blessings in recent years.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crafting afghan blankets for family members. She made clothes for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She greatly enjoyed family holiday dinners and our large dinner outings to favorite restaurants.
Her life will be celebrated at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Ford Funeral Home chapel in Del City. Visitation will be held on Saturday, 9 am - 1:00 pm and Monday 9:00 am- 8:00 pm at Ford Funeral Service.
