Ruth (Bray) Rayburn

March 14, 1925 - December 31, 2016

Verna Ruth Rayburn, 91, passed away on December 31, 2016. She was born on March 14, 1925 in Mt. Pleasant, AR to Oscar Newton and Alice Vena (Ruminer) Bray. Ruth married Grady "Johnny" L. Rayburn on September 4, 1947 in Oklahoma City.
During World War II Ruth moved to Oklahoma City and worked at Douglas Plant as a "Rosie the Riveter." After she married Johnny they moved 22 times across the Midwest in 10 years while Johnny worked with a seismograph company. They settled in Del City to raise their family and she worked for more than 20 years with the Oklahoma City Public School System. After retirement in 1987 Ruth and Johnny traveled all over the world.
Ruth was always up for a good game of bridge. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 67 years, Johnny; sister, JoAnn Daughrity. Survivors include her children, Cathy Childress (Don), Mike Rayburn (Dayna); grandchildren, Tiffany DeLong (Michael), Alyssa Rayburn, and Joey Rayburn; great-grandchildren, Mackinzie DeLong and Avery DeLong, sister, Betty Gaither.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ruth can be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, Oklahoma City, OK Condolences may be offered at www.eisenhourfuneral.com
