Carlene Edith Pearce

February 14, 1927 - July 18, 2022

Carlene Edith Pearce, 95, of Del City passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, in Oklahoma City. She was born February 14, 1927, in Three Sands, OK, to Carlton Edward and Edith Mae Burke. Carlene married Robert "Bob" Pearce on May 20, 1946, in Oklahoma City. She was a 1945 graduate of Capitol Hill High School. Bob and Carlene lived in the Capitol Hill area before moving their family to Del City in 1949 where she resided until the day of her passing. Carlene was a member of Carter Park Baptist Church.
Carlene was an accomplished seamstress and loved to crochet, play piano, and sing in a local "Mother Singers" vocal group. She was always involved in her daughters' activities, including volunteering for homeroom mother, substitute teaching, Brownie Scout, Girl Scout, chorus, band, and pep club. Carlene became a Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) volunteer in 1990 and over the past 32 years she contributed 16,904 service hours to over a dozen nonprofit organizations throughout central Oklahoma, including the American Red Cross, the Hugs Project (active military support), Veterans Hospital and OU Medical Center. In 2013 Carlene received the distinguished Ed Birchall Award from the state of Oklahoma, and in 2018 she was honored by the Well Preserved radio show for her lifetime volunteer achievements.
Carlene is survived by daughters: Roberta Zink, Amarillo, TX; Sherry Hartline, Eufaula, OK; grandchildren: Lori Hartline, Eufaula; David Hartline, Indiana; Rodney Hartline, Eufaula; Melissa Hays (Jimmy), Amarillo; Leslie Daggs (Chance), Oklahoma City; Kimberly Smith, Amarillo; Kate Schwartz (Jeremy), Oklahoma City; Erin Truitt (Chris), Monet, MO; sisters: Lois Pannell, Plano, TX; Louise Kelley, Edmond, OK; 15 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Deborah Howard; great granddaughter Jennabeth Ditmore; sons-in-law: David Howard, Lewis Zink, and Lonnie Hartline.
