Neta Nelson

September 19, 1937 - May 6, 2020

Neta La Trove Nelson passed away to be with the Lord on May 6, 2020. Born on the 19th of September 1937 in San Antonio Texas to Ernest Frederick Ulmer and Neta Myrtle Kelly. In the 50's, Neta, her mother and brother moved from Lytle Texas to Oklahoma City. Neta Graduated from Classen High School and received a nursing scholarship with St. Anthony's Hospital. While in nurses training, she met her husband-to-be, William R. Baumann of Tuttle, OK. William and Neta raised six children, David, Stanley, Keith, Craig, Wesley, and Jennifer. She devoted all her time to her children. She was always in attendance at baseball, football, and band competitions. Neta was a Den Mother when her boys were in Cub Scouts. She was always there, a perfect mother. In 1979 Neta and William divorced. Then Neta found work as a supply technician with Civil Engineering and then at Environmental Management Directorate at Tinker Air Force Base. During this time, she met her second husband-to-be, Carl Nelson, and were married in September of 1989. Neta gained three stepchildren Wendy L. Youngblood, Kirk S. Nelson, and Kris W. Nelson. Neta retired from Tinker Air Force Base with 22 years of service. Neta and Carl loved to travel. They enjoyed Alaskan and Hawaiian cruises, Colorado's Pike's Peak, and their visits to New England. The two also spent time on a friend's sloop of the N.E. coast and in Marathon Florida. Neta was a member of First Southern Baptist Church where she will be deeply missed by her Sunday school class.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to the First Southern Baptist Church of Del City in honor of Neta Nelson.
Viewing will be May 14th 9am-1pm at Ford Funeral Service, 305 S. Sooner Rd. with a private family burial to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, OK.
