Melvin Jackson McCurdy

June 6, 1927 - September 21, 2018

Melvin Jackson McCurdy, 91, passed away on September 21, 2018. Melvin was born on June 6, 1927 in Vanoss, OK to Marvin and Verna McCurdy.
Melvin was a cowboy; growing up, he rode bulls and broke horses for a dollar a day. He also loved to ride motorcycles and was a total man's man. Melvin was a very hard worker with a brilliant mind, and a very gifted mechanic and machinist. He was even the personal mechanic for Lincoln Mercury's Fred Jones. At Hallburton, he was in charge of making sure all of their trucks and equipment functioned well.
In 1945, he met Ruth Jones; their first date was at the soda fountain "Drug Store" in Byers, OK. They dated for 3 years and got married on July 24, 1948. Both of their daughters were born in Ada, Ok and were raised in Del City, Ok.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter Linda and her husband Rick; daughter Donna and her husband David; grandchildren, Rob Satterlee and wife Apryl, Brian Satterlee and wife Serafima, and Chad Cosper and wife Melissa; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, TJ, Braeden, Eva, and Brian V.; along with other family and many friends.
