Willie Laura Jamison

Willie Laura Jamison was born October 12, 1916 at Stephensville, TX, to William and Mattie Bullard. She departed this life March 4, 2008, with grace and dignity and is now residing in the Kingdom of her heavenly father. Willie was married to Wilburn Jamison, December 8, 1932 in Durant, OK. They moved to Midwest City in 1944 where they made their home until her death. To this union were born 3 daughters and 1 son. She was a devoted wife and mother. To her immediate family, Willie was affectionately nicknamed 'Mikey' and known as Mimi to her grandchildren. Willie loved the outdoors and especially fishing. She and Wilburn made many fishing stops while traveling in their motor home. She spent many hours planting a garden and maintaining her yard that was always full of beautiful flowers. She was also an avid reader and many times she had plans to clean the garage and would find a book she had not read and one of the children would find her in the garage reading that book. After her husband's death in 1988, Willie became a regular traveler with the Bryan County Road Runners of Durant, OK. Her favorite charity was the Cancer Fund and she served as chairman of the annual cancer drive in her community for many years. Willie was a long time member of Soldier Creek Baptist Church. Her late husband, Wilburn, was an ordained deacon of their church and both served faithfully for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 3 brothers and her husband. She is survived by Jean and Dr. Cal Hunter of Prague, OK, Alma and John Holland of Choctaw, Shirley and J.T. Sexton of Konawa, OK, and Stanley and Joan Jamison of Midwest City, one sister, Ina Daniels of Duncan, OK, and a special foster child, Holly and her husband Pat Harrison of Comanche, OK, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 11 great, great grandchildren and one due this month, and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Soldier Creek Baptist Church under the direction of Barnes-Friederich Funeral Home. Dr. Charles McDade and Dr. Cal Hunter will officiate. Interment will be at Sunny Lane Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Midwest City Nursing Center and Sol Amar Hospice for their tender and compassionate care of our mother.
