"Bill" Hunter, Jr.

1926 - 2014

William H. "Bill" Hunter, Jr. left to join his Lord and Savior and numerous family members and friends on Sunday, August 24th 2014 at the age of 87. Bill was born November 6, 1926 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and lived his entire life in south Oklahoma City. He attended Shields Heights Grade School and Capitol Hill Junior and Capitol Hill Senior High School, graduating after World War II service with the class of 1946. He later graduated from Oklahoma City University in 1959. He served in the United States Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1945 and the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. In February 1946, Bill started working on film row, first with Warner Bros., then moved to MGM and ended his film career with United Artist in December, 1961. He was employed by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, where he retired in March 1987 as Assistant Chief of Research and Planning. Bill was raised attending Wilmont Place Baptist Church and married his teenage sweetheart, "Billie Gene Horner" on July 17, 1943, while he was only 16 years old. They have one daughter, Candy Hines, two granddaughters, Chelle and Hayley Hines. Bill and Billie were among the small group of people that started the Knob Hill Baptist Church in 1958 and then the Southern Hills Baptist Church in 1962. Bill spent the last years of his life at Village on the Park with many of his friends. He will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his:
Parents, Willie and Mattie Hunter;
Wife of 66 1/2 years, Billie Hunter;
3 Sisters: Daphne Hobbs, Mildred Reser, and Mickey Bassett.
Bill leaves behind his loving:
Daughter, Candy Hines;
Granddaughters: Hayley and Chelle Hines;
Also a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
