Glenn Griffin

November 14, 1966 - April 5, 2017

Daniel Glenn Griffin age 50 of Oklahoma City, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 following an accident in Texas. Glenn was born November 14, 1966 in Bitburg, Germany, where his father was stationed while in the U.S. Air Force. He was the younger of two children born to James Edward Griffin and Sharon Mary (Jones). Glenn grew up in Del City, OK and graduated from Del City High School with the class of 1984. Glenn's love for music began at a young age. While in high school he played in the school's Jazz Band. Shortly after high school, he played with "Synsor," a local rock band that toured the southwest for several years. His love for music led to his lifelong career as a professional bass guitar player. In the late 80s and early 90s, Glenn toured with several country & western bands before spending the last 23 years playing with "C. J. Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band." Over the years, Glenn has played at venues all over the world. Glenn married Shelley Sue Tate on June 1, 1991 in Oklahoma City. For the past 25 years, they have lived in the Oklahoma City area close to family and friends. When not playing music on the road, Glenn enjoyed time at home, and spending time with his family. He was an avid reader and he also enjoyed watching the OKC Thunder and OU football. He will be greatly missed by his family, band members and music fans around the world. He was preceded in death by: Parents, James and Sharon Griffin; He is survived by: Wife, Shelley Griffin of the home in OKC; Sister, Kim Wilson and husband Darren of Choctaw; Father and Mother-in-law, Johnny and Sharon Tate of OKC; Niece, Sylvia Walters of Choctaw; Neice, Cherise Wilson and her husband, Zach Peterson of Piedmont, SC And other loving relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at St. Paul's The Apostle Catholic Church at 3901 S. Sunnylane Rd., Del City, OK. Interment will be at Sunny Lane Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle, OK.
