Maxine J. Gilbert

Maxine Jewel (Jackson) Gilbert, 86 of Del City died June 1, 2012. Maxine was born July 25, 1925 in Olustee, Oklahoma the daughter of William August and Lucy Ellen Robertson Jackson. Maxine was preceded in death by sisters Dorothy J. Lucas, Betty J. Reynolds, Patricia A. Hall; brothers Larue Jackson and Wayne Jackson; twin daughters Louise and Lucille; grandson Ernest Jerome Gilbert; great-grandson Linus Barrett. She graduated from Crooked Oak HS in 1943 and married E.J. Gilbert June 18, 1949. Maxine was employed by AT&T and Southwestern Bell Telephone for 29 years where she was a Yellow Pages editor and later a telephone repair troubleshooter and dispatcher. She loved gardening, bowling, fishing, and bird watching. Maxine also sewed, crocheted, knitted and loved to work all kinds of puzzles. She is survived by her husband, E.J.; daughter, Gale Dills and husband Pete; son, Russell Gilbert and wife Patricia; and daughter, Sandra Richardson; one sister Joyce M. Castor and husband Jim of Owasso, OK. Ten grandchildren: Darius Dills and wife Meredith; Kristen, Phillip, and Katherine Richardson; Melissa Stark, Felicia Thompson, Mandy Shields and husband Richard; Amy Barrett; Sophia Morren, and Shermie Potts and husband Steve; nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The family is grateful for the management and staff of Arbor House of Midwest City and Crossroads Hospice. Funeral Services will be 10am Wednesday in the Candlewood Chapel at Ford Funeral Service with the Rev. Bill Spain officiating.
