Linda Louise Cook

October 28, 1937 - January 12, 2020

Linda Cook, age 82 of Newcastle, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020. Linda Louise Phillips was born October 28, 1937 in Wilsonville, NE, the baby of 9 children born to William David Phillips and Louise Caroline (Nelson) Phillips. She was raised in Wilsonville and attended school there. By chance, she met a young serviceman who had just returned from Korea. His name was James Milton Cook, and Linda married her best friend and life partner on September 26, 1953 in Atwood, KS. They first made their home in Florida, and following work led them other places. In May of 1969, they found themselves in Oklahoma, later settling in Newcastle in 1989. Together they raised 5 children, daughters, Sheree and Debbie and sons, Mickey, John and Marlon. Linda worked in local cafeterias and restaurants throughout the years, and retired from Oklahoma City Public Schools. She was crafty and enjoyed cooking and baking, and she shared her many talents with her family and friends. She will be forever remembered for her candies during the holidays. She greatly enjoyed cake decorating and was able to create and bless her grandchildren with their wedding cakes. She later took up painting and she became quite proficient with her works. She was the most loving mother and grandmother, sister, aunt and a true friend. She will be truly missed!
She was preceded in death by:
Husband, Jim Cook;
Grandson, John "Butchy" Hill Cook;
Parents, William and Louise Phillips;
Sisters, infant Roberta, Darlene Courtwright, Alice Yingling, Dolores Meador and Jean Barnes and
