Hermalee Churchwell

February 10, 1938 - April 2, 2020

Hermalee Churchwell was born on Feb 10, 1938 at Altus Ok to Herman D and Lenora (Word) Muncy and went to her heavenly home Thursday, April 2, 2020. She grew up near Altus in the Friendship community where she completed high school and learned many of life's values. A graduate of Blackwood Business School, she moved to Midwest City and worked at Tinker in the computer arena for 38 years.
Survivors include her husband, soul mate and best friend of 65 years, Wes; daughter, Radonna Whitaker and husband Wayne of Altus, Ok; son, Evan Churchwell and wife Janet of Choctaw, 4 grandchildren; Keila Manos and husband Mark; Matt Whitaker and wife Kendra of Altus, OK, Mallory (Churchwell) Arndt, Choctaw, OK and Justin Churchwell and wife Melissa, Midwest City, Ok; 8 great-grandchildren, Mia and Wyatt Churchwell, Kynlee Garbutt, Brylee and Cheston Arndt, Milo and Milly Whitaker and Cason Manos. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in laws and sisters in law Wilton & Betty Churchwell, Richard Churchwell, Colleen & DL Booker and Omar Churchwell. She is survived by numerous nephews and a niece. Also surviving are her CEBC Joy Class sisters and many other friends and relatives.
Following retirement, she was active in her neighborhood Association and assisted with the compiling of the Tinker Data Automation Retirees, coordinating the quarterly luncheons. She was also active in her CEBC church activities, including bible school and the annual children's carnival before her health began to fail. Other hobbies included gardening, reading, sewing, making quilts and pickles for her family as well as doing craft work, especially OU and OSU items. She was a primary caregiver to her mother, 3 aunts and two dear neighbors. Her willingness to respond to those in need will be fondly remembered. She will be missed for her sunny smile and putting others before self. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the CEBC Children's Scholarship fund. Interment at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
Viewing will be at Ford Funeral Service on Monday, April 6th from 12pm to 5pm. Services will be webcasted on fordfuneral.com, at 11am, Tuesday, April 7th.
