Calvin M. Chappell

Calvin M. went to meet the Lord on April 4, 2005 in Okla. City, OK. He was 78 years old. Services celebrating his life will be held on Fri., April 8, 2005 at 10:00 am at First Southern Baptist Church in Del City, OK. Calvin was born April 28, 1926 in Covington, OK to John and Nannie Chappell. Calvin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lois. He is also survived by his brothers, Paul Chappell and his wife, Virginia, of Big Springs, TX and Romane Chappell and his wife, Dorothy of Columbia, MO. He was preceded in death by his brother, Vernon Chappell. His loving family includes his daughter, Barbara Chappell, her husband, Steve Hopper, and their daughter Alana; son, Burt Chappell, his wife Sandy, and their daughter Callie; daughter, Brenda Chappell, her sons Zachary and Addison DuVerney, her daughter Kasey DuVerney and grandson, Gabriel Hanson. Calvin has been a faithful member of the Gideons International for over 25 years. He has also been a Sunday School teacher most of his adult life and was part of the Jail and Prison Ministry here in Okla. Calvin M. Chappell entered the US Navy in March 1944 and served until June 1946. He then entered the US Air Force in July 1947. He retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant with more than twenty-two years of combined military service. Interment will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, OK. In lieu of flowers Calvin requested donations be made to the Gideons International for the purchase of bibles for distribution in the ministries he supported.
