A native Oklahoman, Susie retired from her career as a state employee in law enforcement. She passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 after a short battle with a rapid spreading cancer, with her loving husband by her side and devoted daughter and granddaughter holding each hand.
Susie was born in Oklahoma City, graduated from Del City High School, and earned her Associates Degree from Rose State College. Susie enjoyed a long career with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), as a Supervisory Analyst, her main focus on auto theft. She loved gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents Rolland and Nadine Gerdes and niece Amber Taft. She was survived by her loving husband Don, brother Rolland "Buster" Gerdes Jr of Mustang, and sister Roxeann Taft of Oklahoma City. She was also survived by her children Bobby Atkins, (wife Jenifer), Stephen Atkins, Stephanie Tucker (husband Wayne), stepsons Mike Bowser (wife Brandi), and Kevin Bowser. She was also survived by many grandchildren Taylor Atkins, Bryce Atkins, Anthony Oliver, Allen Oliver, Alex Tucker, Laycee Tucker, Madi Merrick, Koby Bowser, Levi Bowser, Paige Bowser, Billy Bowser, Justin Bowser, Ryan Bowser, and Shawn Bowser.
Friends and Family are invited to the viewing Saturday May, 2 2020 from 1-5pm at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Del City.
Due to current restrictions of large crowds there will only be a limited graveside service for immediate family Monday, May 4, 2020 at 2pm in Sunnylane Cemetery.
