Leslie Dean Ames

Leslie Dean Ames, 59, entered eternal life from his home surrounded by his loved ones on November 13, 1997. He was born on December 27, 1937, in Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Stephen and Laura Ovella Kidd Ames, and a sister, Cynthia Ann.
He is survived by his wife, Diane McCay Ames of the home; three children, Curtis Lloyd and wife Nancy of Sumner, Washington; Laura Gay Ames and Leslie Katherine Turner, both of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Cory Dean Del Turner, Chandler Curtis and Savannah Gwen Ames; step-children, Shawn Eugene Thomas and wife Cheryl, Erin Lynn Thomas and Pamela Faith Banks and husband Don, and Hope Diane Glavin and husband Tim.
He is also survived by step-grandchildren, Paul, David and Elizabeth Thomas and Hannah and Rachael Glavin; sister Iris Sue Weaver and husband Charles; brother David Ray and wife Lola; four nephews; and one niece.
Ames graduated from Dell City high school in 1956. He attended Central State College in 1968 and co - founded "AH" Metal Fabricators where he designed and manufactured Mr. Pickup accessories.
In 1988, he and brother - partner, David, open Mr. Pickup Distributing, a wholesale and retail automotive accessory store.
He served as an advisory committee member at the Moore - Norman and Eastern Oklahoma County Vo - Tech welding programs.
He was an active private pilot and member of Aircraft Owner and Pilots Association.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Norman.
Memorials may be made to the Moore Christian School Athletic Fund, Box 6390, Moore 73153.
Services were at 10 AM on Monday, November 17 with interment at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Southeast Funeral Home.
