Clarence Tease
October 30, 1952 - January 23, 2023
Clarence Tease of Gaithersburg, Maryland entered his Eternal Home on January 23, 2023. Clarence was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Eddie and Olater Tease of Spencer, Oklahoma, and was the last of four children. He completed his education in the Spencer area including secondary education at the former Dungee high school, where he fondly recalled playing the drums.
Throughout his life, Clarence amazed people with his ability to forge relationships easily and engage others through conversation. These skills proved beneficial when building a successful career in sales and running a small home improvement business in the years prior to his retirement. He spent 15 years working for Mathis Brothers Furniture in Oklahoma City. After his wife’s career led him to the D.C. metropolitan area, he entered the world of mattress sales, where he spent the next 26 years as a sales manager overseeing stores for three major retailers. He retired in 2016.
Despite his intimidating stature, Clarence disarmed people with his gentle and caring nature. He strived to see the best in others and was happy to lend a hand or word of encouragement. An avid handyman, he took pride in accomplishing major remodeling endeavors. One of his favorite past times was maintaining his lawn and tackling landscaping projects with his wife. He also enjoyed other simple joys like barbecue, his animals, and traveling with family to Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
Clarence was also a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who cherished his family. In 1981, he met his wife Le Ann and they were drawn together by their common love for tennis. In the early 80’s they could often be found playing tennis until the wee hours of the morning. When Le Ann entered graduate school, he bolstered her by becoming Mr. Mom, even learning to cook, and being her rock as she balanced her studies, work, and motherhood. For his two daughters, Clarence served as the constant caboose encouraging them to achieve their professional goals and persevere when obstacles arose. He also treasured his grandchildren. Despite his grandson Isiah living far away, Clarence would arrange for Isiah to travel to D.C. and visit him. Clarence's warm smile and endless hugs will be missed immensely.
In addition to his parents, Clarence is preceded in death by two brothers: Eddie Tease, Jr. and Calvin Tease. His memory continues to live in the hearts of his wife Dr. Le Ann Blomberg (Tease) of Gaithersburg, MD; two daughters Charlene Tease (George Robinson) of The Colony, TX and Ashley Tease (Jason Mass) of Washington, D.C. and; two grandchildren Isiah Franklin and Brooklyn Mass; his sister, Oletha Orange of Spencer, Oklahoma; and nieces, nephews, their children and many other people who he befriended through the years.
Celebrations of Clarence's life will be held starting Friday 3, 2023 with a visitation time from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Ford Funeral Home, 305 S. Sooner Road, Midwest City, Oklahoma followed by a funeral service Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Luke Baptist Church, 10001 N.E. 50th Street, Spencer, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial offerings take place in the form of a donation to either the National Kidney Foundation (https://www.kidney.org/) or the Amputee Coalition (https://www.amputee-coalition.org/).
