Goldena "Goldie" [Elkins] King

Graveside service for Goldena (Goldie) Elkins King, 85, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2006 at the Memorial Park Cemetery of Oklahoma City.

Goldena (Goldie) Elkins King was born October 20, 1920 in Minco, Oklahoma the daughter of William Bedford and Mattie Frances [Fugate] Elkins and died June 26, 2006 in Chickasha.

Goldie attended Juliette School of art in New York. She was a professional artist. Goldie was also a bookkeeper for the Liberty Drug for 20 years. She then worked for Grady Memorial Hospital and retired in January of 1989.

She and Dr. George William King were married December 3, 1953 in Richmond, Indiana. He preceded her in death June 8, 1972.

She was a member of the Chickasha Art Guild and competed in art shows and fairs all over the State of Oklahoma and won numerous awards. Goldie loved to bowl on leagues and tournaments. She received many awards. She enjoyed being with her family at all times and was the best cook in the whole world.

Goldie was also preceded in death by: parents; one brother: Ernie Elkins. Survivors include: two daughters: Gay King Glass and husband Danny of Chickasha; Susan King of Chickasha; one grandson: Jason King of Chickasha; 1 nephew: Bill Elkins of Chickasha; one niece: Sue Long of Chickasha; and a special thank you to Life Line Home Health Care, Dr. Coppedge and the nurses in ICU at Grady Memorial Hospital. And to all of her friends at Nowata Gardens a special thank you.

Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Chickasha Christian Center to further the Kingdom of God in Chickasha.
