It was located on N. Western Ave. at NW 172nd St.
On August 12, 1893, M. F. and Sallie Jenks executed a "Deed Record" transferring and designating 3.3 acres in the NW corner of the quarter section to the Methodist Episcopal Church South for a church and cemetery. The homestead receipt to Manderville F. Jenks for the quarter section on which this cemetery was located was dated October 10, 1894. The Patent for the section was filed December 28, 1899. The United Methodist Church District Board of Missions of Oklahoma City later became the successors of this piece of land.
The cemetery land was sold to a realty company for development in January 2000. Because other family members were buried there, the surviving Jenks family members authorized disinterment and reburial in the Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Oklahoma. On June 13-15, 2000, six graves were located which contained the remains of M. F. Jenks and Sally Jenks, husband and wife; Loyd B. Tuttle, infant, and an unnamed female with a casket plate reading "Our Daughter". The cemetery name of "Pioneer" came about from a sign that was erected at some point referring to "Pioneers of the Statehood" in general. The name "Methodist Cemetery" came from the fact that land was owned by entities of the Methodist Church for many years. The name "Jenks Family Cemetery" was used on the district court order for disinterment.
