Charles Evans Yantis

Charles Evans Yantis, 80, of Midwest City passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness on May 4, 2016. He was born July 14, 1935 in San Angelo, TX to James and Jessie (Evans) Yantis. Charles graduated from Midwest City High School in 1954. After graduation, Charles attended OU University where he fell in love with his future bride, Janette Atkinson. The two were married and raised 4 children together. During his life, Charles worked as an ad salesman for the Oklahoma Journal, sales manager at Swiff Train in Corpus Christi, TX where he was awarded Salesman of the Year, and as a homebuilder in Midwest City for Atkinson Properties and Investments. Charles also served on the planning commission for the City of Midwest City. Charles was a kind man who always took care of his family. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. He is survived by his daughter, Diana Swafford and husband Greg; sons, Chuck Yantis and Paul Yantis; and grandchildren, Jason Swafford, Trevor Yantis and Summer Yantis. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janette; and daughter, Melinda Yantis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Charles’ name to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or to the American Cancer Society on-line at www.cancer.org or mail to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Private family services will be held.
