Joseph "Bud" Marvin Williams

February 9, 1927 - June 20, 2022

Joseph Marvin "Bud" Williams, age 95, returned to his heavenly home on June 20th, 2022, with family by his side. He was born in Faxon, Oklahoma on February 9, 1927, graduated from Hollis High School, served in the US Army during World War II in the Pacific, and settled in Del City, Oklahoma with his wife Mary.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents Samuel Williams & Era Bearden Williams, brother Robert Williams and sister Lois Williams Dickey. Bud is survived by his loving wife of 72 years Mary Wheeler Williams; children Jay Williams and Kerry Stigler; grandchildren Christopher Williams, Cassidy Williams McNitt, Rachel Stigler Kuebler, Erin Stigler Hinojosa, and Matthew Stigler, great grandchildren Diego Hinojosa, Cadence Galloway, and Finn McNitt, niece Cheryl Price and countless other family members.
Bud retired from Kerr-McGee Corporation after 30+ years of service and went on to found Williams Income Tax, working for many years serving the local area. Bud served his community as the first mayor of Del City in 1959, a member of Toastmasters, the Del City Lions Club, and was on the Board of Trustees at Rose State College, among others.
Bud and Mary were longtime members of Sunny Lane United Methodist Church in Del City where he served on the administrative board, as a lay leader, taught Sunday School, and was active in the choir and Methodist Men. Bud's firm belief in God and his devotion to his family served him all his life. Bud loved to study and teach from the Bible, loved his darling bride Mary, and loved his entire family fiercely. He loved to laugh, tell jokes, meet new friends (everyone was a friend), and try new things. He saw the good in all people and his favorite quote was "GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME." He was deeply loved by his family and friends, and he is greatly missed.
A Memorial Service celebrating Bud's life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday July 9th, 2022, at Sunny Lane United Methodist Church, 2020 Sunny Lane Road, Del City, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in Bud’s name to Sunny Lane United Methodist Church Music Ministry.
